As the old saying goes "things come in three's" so we had to further express our love of 1986 further. But like all trilogy's our third part of the argument isn't as good as the other two.
In case you can't be bothered to read parts 1 and 2 here is a quick synopsis. Part 1 expressed how Hip Hops old school sound, developed a new niche and lost its electro edge. Part 2 celebrated UK Hip Hop developing and the birth of the wonderful Music Of Life.
Here in Part 3 we are going to discuss the MC. 1986 was the year MC's got more scientifical when they picked up the mic. After Rakim destroyed all competition with the classic 'Eric B is President', other MC's had to step up their game.
Run DMC released their third LP 'Raising Hell', which was a cultural milestone as the masses excepted Hip Hop was not just a fad.
Def Jam started to take control of the Hip Hop scene. LL Cool J 'Radio' went Platinum.
And finally the legendary Public Enemy were signed by Rick Rubin to Def Jam.
So to some up, 1986 was the year that advanced Hip Hop and if these events did not happen would we have the scene we have today???
