Crystal Ballin

Now that adults, students and teens don't buy music anymore, look at the market, record labels are trying to tap into, to make money. What does everyone make of this????

VH1 Miss Rap Supreme

Today is the start of the eagerly anticipated Ego Trip's Miss Rap Supreme. The idea is they discover a top notch, unsigned female MC. We very much doubt they'll 'discover' anyone as good as Jean Grae or T-love though.

We Love 1986

1986, was the essence of Hip Hop. This was year where, everything about rap music changed for the better. Hip Hop transformed from the old school sound of Sugarhill Gang, Fearless 4, Treacherous 3 and morphed into a more mature sound. Which unbelievably was Christened, ahem, 'New School Hip Hop'. This new era of 'New School' was the year Hip Hop found its niche sound. In 1984/85 the sound of Hip Hop was Electro or Old School and everyone in Hip Hop was trying to find its defining sound. Then boom in 1986, a new fresh sound was created. The tempo slowed down, James Brown beats were replicated; Kool Moe Dee was a pioneer and the roots of Hip Hop were laid hard. The Rappers got more scientifical and their flows became more diverse. Over the next few days we're gonna edumacate you current Modern New Schoolers on why this year is the greatest and made the world take notice with the message, that Hip Hop was gonna take over the world.
